Last year, fourth-generation grower Adrian Mobilia and his wife Jessica, made the bold decision to re-locate and expand their successful Selbyville winery, Fenwick Wine Cellars, to better serve their customers.  The Mobilias purchased 26-acres of farmland in Frankford, DE and embarked on a journey to build a warm and rustic winery.   The vision was to provide indoor and outdoor spaces for customers to enjoy their wine, as well as a unique event facility perfect for all types of celebrations.  The new winery, Salted Vines Vineyard & Winery, will also produce and carry wines from the Fenwick Wine Cellars brand so many of you have come to know and love.
“Jessica and I are beyond excited to open our new location, and show everyone what we’ve been creating over the last 11 months,” says Adrian Mobilia. “We have put our heart and soul into Salted Vines. Our team carefully selected the interior finishes, many of which we had a hand in crafting, in order to create an atmosphere that is both elegant and welcoming.”
Salted Vines Vineyard & Winery will be hosting two special events in December:  Christmas in the Vineyard on December 10th from 5pm-9pm and a New Year’s Eve Gala that will also serve as its Grand Opening on December 31st.   Throughout the year, the winery will have fun events that feature new wines, food, music, and seasonal celebrations. You can find details for all vineyard events on their website: www.saltedvines.com.
For additional information please call 302-436-1500, or 410-459-4746.  You can also email the winery at:  info@saltedvines.com.

More than 11,000 people have signed up to a new version of a free online wine course run by the University of Adelaide in Australia. The course began enrollment in early July but it seems to still be accepting people. The course description states “in a matter of weeks this course will give you a broad understanding of the principles and practices used to grow grapes and make wine, and their impact on wine appearance, aroma, flavour and taste.”
The course, named World of Wine: From Grape to Glass even includes a virtual field trip to the Yalumba winery in Barossa Valley. Read more at Decanter

Liquid Alchemy, Delaware’s first meadery, set to open September 10

August 17, 2016

labottles

Liquid Alchemy will open Delaware’s first meadery on September 10 in Wilmington, DE. The grand opening, set for noon, will feature music and food. We will provide more updates as we get closer to the date. Although mead is one of the world’s oldest drinks, many customers may be unaware of honey wine and the many flavors it offers. Liquid Alchemy uses such ingredients as; Thai chilies, fresh limes, Oregon sour cherries and Madagascar bourbon vanilla beans, Washington Bing cherries and Peruvian Raw Cacao Nibs to create innovative new flavors.

We know for many unfamiliar with mead, a little education may be helpful. Luckily, the great people of Liquid Alchemy were willing to provide some insights on the various kinds of meads. Additionally, Delaware Online recently published a terrific article on Liquid Alchemy and mead in general.

We encourage you to come out for the grand opening to experience Delaware first meadery. You can learn more and stay updated on the latest from Liquid Alchemy by following them on Facebook, Twitter, or by visiting their website.
